Energy / Mechanical Engineer

Lafayette Hill, PA

IPS is looking to hire a talented and motivated Energy/Mechanical Engineer to join the team at their Lafayette Hill, PA office. The successful candidate will assist in planning, designing and directing engineering projects focusing on energy efficiency within the business unit.  The assignments contain specific tasks on project teams.  Projects assigned will vary based on experience but will largely focus on energy efficiency as it pertains to HVAC systems and central utility plants predominantly within the pharmaceutical and higher education markets. 

 Additional responsibilities include:

• Conducts energy assessments of facilities to identify potential energy savings projects.
• Analyze data from assessment to calculate quantity of utility savings.
• Prepare design computations and quantity estimates for potential project costs.
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering and energy savings calculations including Carrier HAP and eQUEST.
• Modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies and designs for projects.
• Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design such as heating and cooling loads, lighting calculations and equipment sizing.
• Provides drawings for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters.
• Keeps Project Manager informed of work load and any changes in project scope or additional services.  Provides information to Project Manager for incorporation into specifications.
• Researches code issues and ask general questions of code officials.
• Organizes and maintains project files which allow efficient access to information required by other team members.
• Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

 Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Minimum of 5+ years mechanical engineering or energy engineering experience. 
• Experience in pharmaceutical industry or central utility plants strongly preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.  Registered professional engineer (P.E.) preferred.
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or LEED AP accreditation a plus.
• Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting (CAD).
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel or similar spreadsheet calculation tools.
• General knowledge of alternative energies, federal, local government incentive & rebate programs and life cycle cost analysis.

CAD / 3-D Designer II

Morrisville, NC

IPS has an immediate need for a CAD / 3-D Designer to join our team at our Morrisville, NC office.  The successful candidateworks with a team of Designers, Architects and Engineers to develop design concepts which are incorporated into a final product to the client’s specifications.  May supervise a less senior Designer or Drafter, but will primarily work on technical aspects of a project.  Additional job duties and responsibilities include:

• Develops design concepts; prepares documents during design development phase.  Corrects and updates design documents.  Develops solutions to design problems 
•  Uses computer aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents.  Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards
•  Works with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.  Interacts with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent
•  Routinely archives and retrieves data from electronic database for support of work
•  Research equipment selection from catalogs under the direction of the Project Designer/Engineer
•  Ensure acceptable levels of quality and checks for coordination of work to assure documents reflect design intent and necessary coordination
•  Coordinates design work with related engineering disciplines.  Attend job and construction meetings and participate in the coordination of the work
•  Research non-routine code issues and obtain interpretations from code officials
•  Supports field installation and start-up activities

  Qualifications & Requirements:

•  Technical or Associates Degree in Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical design from an accredited technical institution or college
•  Minimum 6 – 10+ years previous design experience preferred
•  Must be proficient in the use of computer for design and understand CAD operations.  General knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design.  Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes

Process Engineer ll

Somerset, NJ

IPS is seeking a talented and motivated Process Engineer ll to join our team at our Somerset, NJ office.  The successful candidate will assist and support the process engineering design for all types of projects.  The assignments contain specific tasks on project teams, and these individuals are expected to use their education, intelligence and common sense to resolve the engineering problems and tasks they are assigned.

 Additional duties and responsibilities include:

• Prepares process design documents and deliverables for all phases of projects including Conceptual Designs, Basis of Design and Detailed Design. 
•  Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
•  Modifies reports, specifications, drawings (PFD’s and P&ID’s), construction schedules, environmental impact studies and designs to scope of the project as directed by the Lead Engineer.
•  Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for process design.
•  Creates specialized drawings such as PFD’s, MFD’s, UDD’s and P&ID’s. 
•  Selects equipment based on recommendations of Lead Process Engineer and generates equipment lists and schedules.
•  Provides drawing for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate into drawings by drafters.
•  Researches design options and document findings for Lead Process Engineer.
•  Keeps Lead Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.  Provides information to Lead Engineer for incorporation into specifications.
•  Designs in accordance with cGMP process guidelines for pharmaceutical facilities.
•  Organizes and maintains project files. Maintains a neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
•  Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

 Qualifications & Requirements

•  Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
•  Minimum of 5 years engineering experience
•  Experience in a variety of pharmaceutical projects including API, OSD and Aseptic Fill / Finishing is strongly preferred

Project Architects

The successful candidate may oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design; may also work on several concurrent projects.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.
• Write scope of work for architectural design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes. Work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required.
• Assign and review work of project design team. Check progress of work and alert Project Manager to change of scope or additional services.
• Review contractor application for payments. Has a thorough understanding of construction process.

Validation Project Manager

Boston, MA

IPS is seeking a talented and motivated Validation Project Manager to join our growing team in the Greater Boston Area.   Primary responsibilities include C/Q/V of equipment and systems, including CSV and automation, supporting pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries.

 Additional duties and responsibilities include:

• Directly responsible for the successful delivery of commissioning and compliance projects to IPS’ clients.  Lead multiple concurrent small, mid-sized, or large projects on behalf of IPS.
• IPS point of contact to client for overall project delivery.  Runs meetings, communicates status and project issues, and facilitates general project coordination activities. 
• Perform work to meet IPS budget requirements and quality standards.  Provide consistent, complete, and timely feedback and reports to IPS clients or management of project status and issues.  Develop project schedules, deliverable tracking reports, scope adjustment notices, etc.
• Write and manage others in the preparation of C/Q/V documents following established standards and templates, including but not limited to the following:
  • C/Q/V Master Plans
  • Commissioning Forms
  • C/Q/V Protocols and Summary Reports

• Experience with Biotech equipment and facilities, CIP/SIP, cleaning validation, and process validation is desired

Senior Electrical Engineer / Designer

Lafayette Hill, PA or somerset, NJ

Integrated Project Services (IPS) is rapidly expanding and has an immediate need for Senior Electrical Engineers and  Electrical  Designers  to join our team at our Lafayette Hill, PA or Somerset, NJ locations.

The successful candidates will be highly motivated and have a minimum of ten (10) years experience for the senior engineer and three (3) years for the designer in building design. The senior engineer must be able to lead a team on multiple projects . The designer must have with the ability to work independently or with minimal oversight of project engineer. Other requirements are:  AutoCAD proficient (Revit a plus), ability to do branch circuit and feeder layouts as well as single line diagrams, lighting, fire alarm, details, schedules and other related electrical drawings. Medium voltage design experience a plus.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelors of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (for Engineer position only and not necessarily required for Designer)
• Minimum 3+ years previous building design experience

Validation Engineers

Lafayette Hill, PA / Somerset, NJ

IPS is searching for all levels of Validation Engineers for our Lafayette Hill, PA and Somerset, NJ offices. Will perform cGMP compliance based services (commissioning, qualification, validation, consulting, etc.) as developed and defined in project agreements with IPS’ clients.  The Validation Engineer(s) will follow IPS and client standards and requirements, overall good industry practices and regulatory requirements. The individual(s) may also perform standalone commissioning services for non-FDA regulated clients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Write C/Q/V documents following established standards and templates.
• Perform field/site activities such as: attend and witness FATs and SATs as a representative of IPS clients, execution of commissioning forms and witnessing of vendor start-up and testing, execution of C/Q/V protocols, walkdown and verification of system drawings.
• Compile data and prepare reports for completed C/Q/V activities including ETOPs, protocol data packages, etc.
• Assists in deviation investigation and resolution for problems and issues encountered during field execution activities.
• Coordinate with the Project Delivery department or CM for start-up and vendor testing. Witness and troubleshoot as required.
• C/Q/V of equipment and systems, including CSV and automation, supporting pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries.
• Read, understand and utilize the IPS Best Practices and SOPs for delivery of compliance services.
• Provide consistent, complete and timely feedback and reports to IPS project leaders, project managers or management of project status and issues.

Professional and Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required for an Engineer; Bachelor of Science in a related field is required.
• 2 or more years of industry experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Medical Device Design, Construction, Commissioning, Validation, or QA. Experience in writing and execution of PFC, FC, IQ, OQ, and PQ forms and protocols for GMP Utilities, Equipment, Systems, and Software.
• General exposure and experience in a GMP/Validation discipline with a knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical Design/Build/Commission/Validate processes and how they relate to regulatory requirements and cGMP regulations within the EU and US FDA.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Cleaning, Process, Computer System, Methods, and other validation activities and processes, beneficial.
• Experience with Risk-Based Approach to Commissioning and Qualification is beneficial.
